My partner and I won the first Dallas Bass Hookers Club Tournament of the year, January 17, 2015 on Squaw Creek Lake in Granbury, TX. I had never fished the lake before, and my partner had not fished it in years. So we knew we had our work cut out for us.
The morning started off very slow. We only got a few bites, and the fish we caught were not keepers. After having very little luck on our first few spots, we decided to relocate. We made a move to the upper end of the lake. At about 10 am, we boated our fish keeper and it was our biggest fish, weighing 6.75lbs! About 20 minutes later, we caught our second fish, weighing about 4lbs. That’s when we knew we had something going. By the end of the day, we had a bag weighing 19.34
The winning pattern:
We caught our fish by dragging a Carolina rigged Zoom Baby Brush Hog and swimming a PowerTeam Lures 4″ Grub along rocky banks in 6 – 10 feet of water. Both baits were in Green Pumpkin color.
